Purchase Pack Calculator: whole packs, units to buy and remaining stock: purpose and instructions

Enter item names, units, required and available quantities and units per pack. Subtract stock and round up to whole packs, then review shortages, purchased units and remaining stock. Up to 50 items, with local processing, copying and printing.

How to use

  1. Enter an item name, base unit and integer required quantity, available quantity and units per pack. Explicitly enter 0 when no stock is available.
  2. Choose Calculate purchase packs. Correct blank fields, non-integers, empty packs and out-of-range values, then review the shortage and rounded-up pack count.
  3. Review each item's unit, purchased quantity and remaining stock. Copy or print the complete report and separately confirm inventory and supplier pack sizes.

Frequently asked questions

How many packs are needed for 135 units with 10 available and 24 per pack?
The shortage is 125 units, so buy 6 packs containing 144 units, leaving 19 after use. Shortage is required minus available quantity, with a minimum of zero. When stock is sufficient, buy 0 packs and retain the remaining quantity. Exact multiples do not add an extra pack.
Can I use decimals, mixed pack sizes or minimum order quantities?
No. Each item uses one pack size and base unit, with non-negative integers and at least 1 unit per pack. Inputs and results cannot exceed 9,007,199,254,740,991. Different units are not added and matching names are not merged. Prices, comparisons, mixed packs, minimum orders, inventory lookups and ordering are excluded.
Are inputs saved, and can I print old results after editing?
Data stays in this tool's browser memory without transmission or automatic saving. Leaving, refreshing or closing clears it. Switching language preserves the original input; changing any field or item immediately clears old results. Calculate again before copying or printing. You are responsible for existing copied or printed copies.
