Print scale calculator: fixed-orientation scale, dimensions and total remaining space

Print scale calculator: fixed-orientation scale, dimensions and total remaining space: purpose and instructions

Enter the original and printable widths and heights to find the largest uniform scale that fits, rounded down to a 0.1% step. Review the scaled dimensions and total remaining space for each axis. Exact local calculations do not read files, control printers or guarantee physical dimensions.

How to use

  1. Confirm the original and device printable-area dimensions, then enter all four widths and heights in mm. Orientation stays fixed without automatic rotation.
  2. Enable enlargement if needed; it is off by default. Calculate the print scale and check the percentage, scaled dimensions and total remaining space.
  3. Calculate again after changing any input, then set the scale yourself in the print interface. Verify device settings and measure the physical output.

Frequently asked questions

Which dimensions are accepted, and why is the scale rounded down?
All four fields accept ordinary positive decimal numbers up to 100000 mm with no more than three decimal places. The largest scale is rounded down to a 0.1% step so both axes fit the entered dimensions. Scales below 0.1% are explicitly unsupported; a usable 0% result is never provided.
Are the remaining width and height per-side margins or printer margins?
No. Total remaining space is the printable dimension minus the scaled dimension, combining both sides of each axis. Centering is not assumed and the total is not divided by two. It is not an unprintable printer margin, a per-side margin or remaining area.
Does the tool rotate automatically, read PDFs or control the printer?
No. Original width maps to printable width and height maps to height, without swapping orientation. The tool does not read PDFs or images, detect devices or start printing. Drivers may apply further scaling, so the estimate does not guarantee physical dimensions.
Are inputs and results saved?
No. Data stays in this page's memory and is not written to the URL, persistent storage or a server. Changing a dimension or the enlargement option immediately removes the old result. Clear, leaving the tool or reloading also removes it.
