Required fields checker: find blank required cells by original line

Required fields checker: find blank required cells by original line: purpose and instructions

Paste simple TSV with headers, preview it locally, and choose required columns. Check up to 500 data rows and 20 columns for missing text. Reports contain original line numbers, missing column names, and counts, with no cell values. Data accuracy and consent to contact are not verified.

How to use

  1. Paste simple TSV, confirm the first line contains column names and every line has the same column count, then review the preview. The 500-row limit excludes the header.
  2. Select at least one required column and run the check. Original line numbers match the pasted text: headers are line 1 and the first data row is line 2.
  3. Review the checked row count, affected row count, missing cell count, and missing column names for each line, then copy the report. Editing data or selections requires a new check.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as missing? Will 0, false, or leading zeros change?
Only empty or whitespace-only cells count as missing. 0, false, and 00123 remain filled text; formulas and HTML-like content also display as text. Only selected columns are checked. No passing or copyable report is produced without data rows and a selected required column.
How are blank lines, final newlines, and duplicate headers handled?
One final newline adds no row. Actual blank lines retain their original line numbers and count toward the limit. Every line must match the header width; a bare blank line in a multi-column table blocks the whole table. Blank or identical trimmed headers, inconsistent widths, and exceeded limits cannot produce a passing report.
Can it parse quoted TSV, embedded newlines, or connect to spreadsheets?
No. This version separates columns by tabs and rows by newlines. Quotes are literal text. Quoted TSV, embedded tabs or newlines, and merged cells are unsupported. It does not connect to spreadsheets, fill values, or delete rows. Confirm the source is simple TSV; not every unsupported format can be detected automatically.
Will the list be uploaded, saved, or included in the copied report?
Input and results stay in page memory. They are not uploaded or written to URLs, persistent storage, or logs. Clearing, leaving the tool, and reloading erase them. Reports contain only rules, selected column names, original line numbers, missing column names, and counts, never cell values. Headers do enter reports, so confirm the first line has no private information before copying.
