WAV Channel Splitter User Guide
Split a 16-bit PCM stereo WAV into left and right mono WAV files locally in your browser. Preserve sample values, sample rate and duration; preview and export each channel without uploads.
How to use
Import a stereo WAV with separate recordings on the left and right channels.
Check the source name, sample rate and sample count, then preview each channel.
Export the _L.wav and _R.wav copies separately. Replacing the file or leaving the page clears the results.
Formats and limits
Maximum 20 MiB per file; 16-bit integer PCM, 2 channels and 8,000–192,000 Hz only. Empty audio data is rejected.
Only 16 or 18 byte fmt chunks (cbSize 0) are accepted. Additional chunks: JUNK, PAD, bext and iXML only; maximum 1,024 chunks. Unknown formats, duplicate fmt/data chunks and invalid lengths or alignment are rejected.
Downloads directly copy source PCM samples without playback decoding, mixing, normalization, trimming or resampling. Extra metadata is not retained.
Output
Two PCM16 mono copies named with the source base name plus _L.wav and _R.wav. The original file is not overwritten.
Frequently asked questions
Can this separate two speakers within one channel?
No. The source must already have separate signals on its left and right channels. This tool does not perform AI voice separation or noise reduction.
Does previewing change the download sample rate?
No. Browser and device playback may resample audio, but downloads directly use the split PCM bytes and bypass the preview pipeline.
Can a completely silent channel still be split?
Yes. Valid silent channels keep their original sample count and duration. File limits are safety thresholds for this version, not a performance guarantee for every device.
The file name and content are only processed in your browser and are not transmitted to the server. The original file will not be overwritten. Please export the required results before leaving the tool.
