ZIP Directory Viewer User Guide
Read one ZIP32 central directory locally in your browser. List paths, names, declared uncompressed sizes, and file and explicit-directory counts, retaining and flagging duplicate paths.
How to use
Select one unencrypted ZIP. The tool checks the entire central-directory structure and limits first.
Review entries and duplicate paths in index order. Special locations and control characters are displayed as escaped text only.
Copy the same listing or download zip-directory.txt. Replacing, cancelling, clearing or leaving the tool clears the result.
Formats and limits
Up to 50 MiB per ZIP, 1,000 entries and a 4 MiB central directory. These conservative limits do not guarantee performance on every device.
Only ordinary unencrypted ZIP32 with ASCII or explicitly declared UTF-8 filenames. ZIP64, split archives, encrypted or compressed directories, unsupported encodings and malformed structures are rejected in full.
No extraction, preview, execution, recursion into nested ZIPs or file modification. Contents are not read to verify CRC. A readable index does not guarantee content integrity, accurate sizes or safety.
Output
The plain-text listing preserves central-directory order, duplicates, declared bytes, counts and path warnings. Only explicit names ending in / count as directories. TXT excludes ZIP comments and the source filename.
Frequently asked questions
Is an empty file the same as a ZIP with no entries?
No. A zero-byte input is not a ZIP. A valid empty ZIP shows 0 entries. A regular entry declaring 0 bytes still counts as a file.
Does a complete listing mean the contents are safe to open?
No. This is only central-directory information. The tool does not extract, verify contents, check CRC or scan for malware. Paths are never used as local write targets.
The file name and content are only processed in your browser and are not transmitted to the server. The original file will not be overwritten. Please export the required results before leaving the tool.
