Video Muting and Audio Separation User Guide

Re-encode local video as silent WebM, optionally producing separate WebM/Opus audio at the same time. Both modes share one tool with preview and export.

How to use

  1. Choose mute-only or audio separation, then import a local video.
  2. Start processing and keep this tab visible. Switching modes clears current data.
  3. Review the silent video and, in separation mode, the independent audio before exporting.

Formats and limits

  • The source must be MP4 or WebM that can be decoded by current browsers, and the maximum size of a single file is 100 MiB.
  • Up to 120 seconds at 1080p. Mute-only accepts sources without audio; separation requires 0.25 to 120 seconds and a single enabled audio track.
  • Video is limited to 80 MiB, separated audio to 16 MiB, and the total to 100 MiB. In separation mode, either output failing or being cancelled discards both.
  • Real-time re-encoding takes about as long as playback. Moving the tab to the background, canceling, or leaving the tool discards unfinished results.

Output

Silent VP8-only WebM; separation also provides Opus-only audio WebM. This is not MP3, WAV or lossless stream extraction.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a video without an audio track?

Choose mute-only. Separation requires exactly one enabled audio track; a valid silent audio track can also be separated.
